After winning the Orange Playwriting Award with The Piano Lesson, a play inspired by the Matisse painting, Alan has written for theatre (The Bard Ambition, The Truth & The Mirror), cinema (The Picture of Dorian Gray, Ghosts) and opera (The Australian Constitution). His work is drawn from a place where art and history cross, where unspoken thoughts are spoken and where poetry and music mingle with the everyday.
Born in Scotland, Alan divides his time between Australia and the United Kingdom where he works as a writer and lectures in drama and playwriting.
